Course Objective

To teach the importance of physiotherapy in sports medicine, the science of sport physiotherapy in the world and in Türkiye, preventing athletic injuries, assessment, physiotherapy and rehabilitation of injured athlete and return to sport criteria.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Summarizes the definition of sport physiotherapy and the applications in the world and in Türkiye.
2   Knows and classifies the athletic injuries.
3   Knows and applies basic physiotherapy assessments of musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and neuromuscular system in athletes.
4   Knows the causes of injuries and the ways of preventing injuries in athletes.
5   Knows and applies physiotherapy and rehabilitation program of injured athletes.
6   Knows return to sport criteria for athletes.
7   Knows basic principles of physiotherapy applications for disabled, elderly, children and adolescent athletes.
