Course Objective

To recognise and determine the material properties of natural building stones, to discuss the conformity of natural building stones extracted in Türkiye with the limit values in TS and ASTM standards, to understand the importance of natural stone standards.

6 Physical-mechanical limit values for limestone and dolomite to be used as natural building stone
7 Subject repetition and midterm exam
8 Physical-mechanical limit values that travertine should have in order to be used as natural building stone
9 Physical-mechanical limit values that granite and syenite should have in order to be used as natural building stone
10 Physical-mechanical limit values required for andesite to be used as natural building stone
11 Physical-mechanical limit values that conglomerate should have in order to be used as natural building stone

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

This course will be taught practically in the laboratory. After the lecturer explains the subject, students will perform the relevant experiment, then he/she will expect students and/or groups of students to perform the experiment, create a discussion environment in the form of questions and answers and learn the subjects.
