Course Objective

Teaching the use of the Rhinoceros program, which is used to draw three-dimensional jewellery, and sizing the drawn objects.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to define Cad and Cam systems.
2   Ability to transform lines into solids in jewelry mold preparation.
3   Ability to place jewels in the CAD environment.
4   Ability to take measurements on jewelry molds.
5   Ability to lighten the product by calculating the weight in the CAD environment.
6   Ability to create basic element lines in jewelry mold preparation.

1 Introduction to Rhino program interface, Zoom, Pan, Command line, Menus, Modes, Shade-Wireframe views.
2 Wedding Ring Making, curve menu commands, Transform menu commands, extrude solid, mirror, offset curve, profile definition, trim, join, explode commands.
3 Nail drawings, making a secure pendant, Boolean operations, copy, move, rotate, delete, mirror, line, curve, arc, circle commands
4 pendant and bead head making, surface commands loft, sweep1, sweep2, revolve, railrevolve commands.
5 Named Keychain making, text, bend, rotate commands, surface commands, curve network, patch, blend, orient on curve-surface commands.
6 Making ornamental stone cluster earrings, import, insert, object properties commands.
7 necklace making
8 Midterm Exam Week
9 Brooch drawing with organic modeling, control points, rebuild, extract isocurve, solids box, sphere, cone, ellipsoid, curve on surface commands.
