Course Objective

It has been aimed to teach the dyeing technic in theory and practice used in hand dyeing on textiles handcraft .Coloring yarn dye or vegetable or animal textile matter (silk ,wool ,cotton , etc.) with normal dying with proper dyestaff . Besides to teach the physical methods of reserve technics on woven textiles and reserve technics with applying natural material on the fabric .

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. All the technical data and information on dying
2   The ability to have the the practice of dying with recipes on textile materials such as silk, wool or cotton using vegetable and animal based dyes
3   knowledge to dye yarns as woven textile fabric or hanks
4   knowledge to apply the reserve technics with physical method on woven fabric
5   to apply reserve technics with covering cross dying with natural materials on fabric
6   to be competent on batik dying by changing the paraphin and wax ratio applied on fabric to have different marble effect on tie dye .

1 To give the theory of the recipes and technical Notion of dying information
2 To teach the vegetable and animal based yarns such as silk ,wool and cotton hanks standart and color combinated dying methods
3 To teach the standart dying receipts for vegetable and animal based textile materials such as silk ,wool and cotton
4 To give the dying exercices in ateliers
5 To give the information of reserve dying methods and to have the sample research and assays
6 Physical ( tie and dye ) batik dying and having their exercises
7 Physical ( tie and dye ) batik dying and having their exercises
8 To give the information about Shibori which is one of the reserve dying method and have its research exercises
9 To have shibori exercises
10 To give theorical information on reserve methods by facing and to have exercises
11 To prepare design for batik practices
12 Practices for batik in atelier
13 Practices for batik in atelier
14 Practices for batik in atelier

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Technic information and necessary dying recipes are given. Practices all the theory in ateliers. All the dying technic used in international platform and theis assays have been shared. Besides all the previous student studies were analized in quest and answer form to reinforce the lesson / matter . All student practice every dying technic in the atelier/work place .
