Course Objective

This course aims to teach the methods and the techniques at production transition stage on the basis of design variations such as style, color, texture, material and fiber within the scope of speccified trend and target group.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to be able to form a concept by analysing the session trends and market data,
2   to form a color range for the theme,
3   to be able to market the proddduct-target group relationship by defining the target group and plan the collection,
4   to be prepare sketches formed by creative and innovator products by taking the preparing collection principles into considerstion,
5   to be able to harmonise design and the material (fabric, supportive materials with various accessories),
6   to be able to perform the pattern and model application studies from various collections,
7   to be able to perform sewing techniques by following th work float during the model application studies and turn the models into the products,
8   to be able to associate the employed techniques and materials correctly and make a presentation

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Searching for form, cutting, color, texture, pattern and material by taking the trends into considderation and prsenting as a report.
2 Sketch and design study within the scope of form, material and technical features specified according to the target group.
3 Analysing the models that form the collection and discussing them as a whole and sketch study.
4 Delivery of the sketch file and evaluation
5 Drawing and the detailing the technical expansion of the products that will be applied
6 Detailing the technical drawings
7 Preparing the pattern of the products that will be applied
8 Pattern application
9 Transition the pattern onto the fabric and cutting. Explaining different sewing methods that will be used at the application stage
10 Application stage
11 Preparing the presentation sheet. Application stage
12 Application stage, studying on th artistic drawing that will take part on the design sheets.
13 Presentation sheet and preparing the design sheet
14 Product delivery, delivery of thee product photographs, delivery of th design sheets and CD, jury evaluation

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Courses
The lecturr of this course guides sudents to generate solutions on strating points, target group and applicationn areas determined by them accordance with current fashion trends and want them to submit their thoughts in black and white and visually (report, presentation sheet, an anecdote notebook with the design process inside).
2. Revision session and class discussions
Revision sesions are held at the first and the last classes of each week on the basis of given time for the elections of designs. Sketch and presentation files form the basis of the problems that will be solved in these sessions. Students are encouraged significantly for taking part in the class discussions and presenting their ideas about their designs.
3. Applications
In the transition from design to the production process, students are informed about how to use information they learnt in the basic pattern, technical drawing, computer aided fashion design and production courses and other technical courses at preparing the production report stage with a sample application process.

Assessment Criteria

During the course evaluation phase, first of all, scoring will be done on creativity in designs, innovative approach, parallelism with the chosen starting point, suitability of the designs to the selected product group, correct association of the selected materials and application technique in the transition from design to production, compatibility and presentation of the resulting product with the design.

Course Policies and Rules

1.There is an 80% obligation in attendance to lesson.
2. All plagiarism attempts and actions would end up in disciplinary punishment
3. Nonattendance to the lesson, not performing the required responsibilities will not be accepted.
4. For late project deliveries, decreasing a letter grad for each day will be appllied.
