Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the history of the shoe types worn by the cultures in prehistoric ages, ancient period and early period; the history of the shoes worn by the societies and civilizations and Anatolia, Asia, Africa, America, Canada and Europe from 15th century to the 19th century and Middle Age and New Era Europe; the history of the shoes worn in the 21st century and the innovation in footwear in the 21st century and the impacts of the changes in the history of society, economy, art and fashion on the history of shoes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learn the history of the shoes in prehistoric ages, the civilization of ancient history and the culture of early period
2   Learn the footwear history from the modern period in Europe to the medieval Europe, able to do research
3   Learn the footwear history in Europe, beginning from the 15th century to the 19th century
4   Learn the footwear in the 20th century
5   Learn the innovations footwear in the 21th century
6   Learn the footwear in Anatolia and the Ottomans
7   Learn the impacts of changes in the history of society, economy, art and fashion on the history of shoes
8   Perform a research and present his / her research and by evaluating the information, make comments on design
