Course Objective

The objective of this course is to provide an understanding the concept of foreign investments, foreign direct investments (FDI) and foreign portfolio investments (FPI). The topics cover the types of FDI, theory of multinational enterprises, global movements of foreign investments, main recipient countries, strategies and incentives to attract foreign investments in different countires.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The learner will be able toclassify the reasons, determinants, potential cost and benefits of FDI to evaluate the importance of FDI in both developed and developing countries' economic growth.
2   The learner will show the link between multnational companies and FDIto recognize the significance of them in international trade and investment.
3   The learner will be able to differentiate the types of foreign investments for the purpose of understanding the impact of real/financial capital flows on economies.
4   The learner will be able to design a country or company-based research study to compare various aspects of foreign investments in Türkiye or world economy.
5   The learner will be able to follow the recent news on foreign investments by following the periodicals and journals to see the geography and stock of foreign investments in real life .

1. Participation in class and in-class discussion is compulsory.
2. All individual projects should be presented and submitted on time. Otherwise will not be accepted.
3. Attending at least 70 percent of lectures is mandatory.
4. Plagiarism of any type will result in disciplinary action.
