Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the Traditional Turkish Arts concept, inform the students about todays applications, and support the students theoretically with their applications and have them realize the branch they are being educated.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   After the education given by this course, students are supposed to be informed of the Traditional Turkish Arts concept and its content,
2   be informed of todays institutions and people making productions related to Traditional Turkish Arts,
3   know the history of art branches included in the scope of Traditional Turkish Arts, today s application techniques and their usage areas,
4   assess today's traditional art works and perform the education they have got effectively and correctly with their works,
5   perform the traditional art concept effectively by their original designs.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In this course, after dealing with Traditional Art in general, we will emphasize the Traditional Turkish Art and introduce the art branches to be worked through in this scope. The historical development and todays applications of these art branches will be taught together with visual presentations, and after these presentations we will create a discussion atmosphere in which the students will exchange ideas. The domestic and overseas museums, libraries and private collections related to the Turkish Arts will be introduced, and the students will be given information about the current exhibitions and artistic activities in these places.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In this course, in which theoretical information is given and the related visual presentations are made by the instructor, attendance is important. The students will be observed in terms of their answers to the questions in the lessons and their participation in the discussions at the end of each lesson. The student's theoretical and visual references which he will prepare throughout the educational term will also be taken into consideration.

Assessment Criteria

The mid-term and the final exams are evaluated out of 100.

After the theoretical information is conveyed to the students both orally and written, lecture notes are given to them. 80% attendance is compulsory. The students are informed of the following lesson and are expected to read something related to the subject.
