Course Objective

The aim is to have the students do a sample documentation work as a part of conservation practices, and have them learn to plan the restoration period of the carpet to be restored and the techniques used for restoration.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   technically analyze the carpet to be restored at the documentation stage,
2   restore the missing part of a carpet by completing it schematic point of view,
3   carry out the techniques used for restitution,
4   use a computer program which can do restitution,
5   represent the restitution study they have done effectively.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The aim is to supply maximum student attendance. In first lesson, the 15-week program is introduced to the students. In addition to scanning related books and articles, overseas works, foundations, institutions and entities are examined. After that, the documentation period which is one of the most important part of a restoration is taught practically by working on a sample weaving.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Students will be asked to prepare a research subject and to study on a project. The pass grade will be determined by the grades they have got by these two studies.

Assessment Criteria

Both the research subject and the project will be evaluated out of 100. The 40 % of the research study grade and 60 % of the project grade will determine the pass grade.

Course Policies and Rules

The compulsory attendance is 80%.
Before the end of the term, in the last 15 days, students will be able to learn their attendance. Students having absenteeism over 80% won t be accepted to the final exam.
At the end of each course, the next lesson s subject is given to the students as study and research subject. So, students come to the next lesson ready.
If a student is on sick leave, he will be considered absent.
