Course Objective

Course aims to examine industrial revolution which had provided the formation of industrial design and understanding and society which had developed parallel with this, and contemporary art movements; to analyze roles and relationships of these factors during design process formation and to determine and evaluate roles of these factors in studies for textile design.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   is to associate and evaluate changes in social structure, art and design with industrialization,
2   to know factors which had prepared the formation of contemporary art movements,
3   to comprehend the Arts, Crafts and Design concepts and information regarded with their relationship
4   to learn information regarded with formation process of industrial design and production
5   to be able to establish relationship between art movements which had occurred in period from industrial revolution to Bauhaus and textile-fashion design.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In first week of academic term bibliography related with research subjects and course is given by lecturer to the students. Lecturer conveys the course the students by means of course notes which are prepared from different sources and visual presentations. Students present their research subjects in class by means of oral and/or visual presentations in last 4 weeks.
