Course Objective

To teach the basics of digital printig which is the current technology of new generation textile printing,its applications in textile,differences between traditional textile printing,usage opportunities of textile designers of our day and its advantages,to turn all the selected Works into products by using digitalprinting design and printing opportunities.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define basic principles and systems of digital printing
2   define differences between digital printing from traditional printing
3   define advantages of digital printing in application and design
4   define compounds of digital systems and differences of digital printig ink from traditional printing dye stuffs and pastes.
5   obtain visual effects and printing patterns which can not be achieved by conventional printing techniques through digital design and printing possibilities.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Basics of digital textile printing,differences from traditional textile and paper printing, general evaluation of textile printing sector, introduction to computer programmes
2 History of digital printing and its development, determining project and assignment topics, explaining which ways to follow while scanning sources and how key words that will be decided, scanning resources in the library
3 Image processing and vectoral drawing programmes, properties of digital images, basic concepts and computer based presentation.
4 Introduction of digital printings, examining the machinery, evaluating the resources, studying on computers.
5 Informing about digital printing machinery and softwares, evaluating of obtaining visual effects which can not be achieved conventional printing methods through digital printing. Evaluating research and project drafts and applications.
6 Color systems, basics and differences of CMYK, RGB ve CIELab color systems , computer based presentation and practices
7 Dijital ink jet baskı mürekkepleri ve klasik baskı boyalarından farkları, kumaşlar, ön ve ard işlemler. Proje uygulamaları, ödev değerlendirme Digital ink jet printing ink and its differences from conventional printing dyes, fabrics, pre and post processes. Project applications, assignment evaluation.
8 Digital printing systems, applications of digital printing in art and design. Project studies.
