Course Objective

The aim of this course is to understand the autuer theory in cinema, which has been discussed in French cinema after the Second World War, and the point of view of the important theorists of this theory. Especially, the effect of the theory that developed in the French New wave to the whole world cinema and explaining how the auteur director identity was formed.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. The topics covered in the learning outcomes will be given to the students as a seminar topic every week, it will be planned to access the articles and theses on the internet and to research the subject, as well as to scan the printed resource books and to present them as a power point in the course with a certain method.

2. With the presentation of the student, the points that need to be addressed and emphasized in the course will be explained by me and the course will turn into a discussion platform and focus on the topicality of the subject.

Assessment Criteria

The topics given as the subject of the seminar will be successfully researched by each student and presented in the course. The sections that the instructor of the lesson missed or criticized in the presentation will be emphasized and a presentation will be made with examples. In addition, a different topic will be discussed each week during the course and the students who listen to the course will be provided with comments and participation in the course and will not be expected. The topics presented will be brought to the level to be published in a peer-reviewed journal at the end of the year, after studies with the student.
