Course Objective

Since cinema is considered as a communication system, the language of cinema appears to be important. Without doubt, the language should be familiar for the viewers to be understood. One of the methods to read and understand the cinema language is varietal reading. The aim of this course is to get the subtitles of the films to be read, via types.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students learn the historical development of the film types,
2   They comprehend the function of film types,
3   - They comprehend how the types are perceived by film critics and viewers
4   They learn the importance of being a good viewer who is a part of artistic production
5   They learn to use the varietal methods correctly while analyzing the films
6   - They also learn to have analytical ability and to have a critical point of view.
