Course Objective

Cinema is not just composed of popular Hollywood films for people who are closely interested in cinematography. But it is not just composed of national cinemas succeeded all accross the world or some modernist trends which stamped in a decade of last century. Also it is not just composed of auteur cinema. B movies occupy a place also in commercial and quantitive size, even they are not released. They just screen on televison or sold in supermarkets and bookstores with cut prices in baskets. Also these movies occupy a place for analysing the nature of cinematographic production processes. The purpose of this course is to analyse the faults,frailties and also affirmative aspects of these films and to teach the students what they should not to do in a production process of a movie.

3   comprehending the faults and frailities in B movies
4   realizing the relationship between A/B movies and Mass/Popular culture

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

First of all its important for students to get the difference of Mass and Popular Culture. in this context, the relations can be realized between main stream popular films and B movies. Then, course will analyse the different aspects of B movies like acting, directing, script and visual effects in a comparison with main stream movies.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In midterm exams, it will be measured that did students get the main differences in popular and mass culture. In the final exam it will be measured that students get the point of mainly the importance of B movies.

Assessment Criteria

The attending and and capability of perception and talent in projects and lessons will be the main criteria of assessment.

1- It is bound to attend the 70% of lessons per each term.

2- Not attending the lessons is not to be evaluated as a valid excuse for delivering the projects after expiring date

3- The point of assessment will increase as a letter per each day of expired date
