Course Objective

The aim of this course is to make the student understand what hearing is, its importance, in which environments and how hearing evaluation is performed and to understand the responsibilities of the audiometrist with its application.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to define the characteristics of the suitable environment where pure tone audiometry will be performed.
2   Be able to apply pure tone audiometry.
3   Can determine the type and degree of hearing loss.
4   Can associate tuning fork tests with pure tone hearing test results
5   Defines masking application time, mask noise to be used, basic information and rules of masking in pure tone audiometry.
6   Can perform masking in pure tone audiometry
