Course Objective

The students in this course are aimed:
1.To be able to develop the awareness of visual repertoire of the design such as line, shape, texture, color, space, color;
2. To be able to understand the design principles such as unity, diversity, balance, emphasis, dominance, rhythm, movement, visual harmony, proportion, dimension, hierarchy, figure / ground relationships and plastic economy;
3. To be able to develop the conceptual, analytical and creative thinking skills through projects and discussions.
4.To be able to learn about the basic properties of color;
5. To be able to learn the color contrasts;
6. To be able to learn to distinguish and to see the value of the color and tone;
7. To be able to learn mixing colors in order to find other colors;
8. To be able to learn how light affects our perception related to color and form by examining the different methods and ways;
9. To be able to draw and illustrate designed or organic objects in linear, grayscale and realistic way with different line styles without making ratio-proportion mistake through the student's basic perspective knowledge .

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to determine both the visual and theoretical problems; to be able to gain skills to develop, transfer to paper, examine, collect the data for solving the problem solving
2   To able to produce interactive works for visual problem solving by using the principles and elements of design
3   To be able to develop creative and analytical thinking skills
4   To be able to acquire visual perception, artistic language and presentation skills, and theoretical and intellectual basis related to art
5   To be able to know the attributes of color, to use basic color schemes and harmonies consciously and to notice the differences between light and pigment colors
6   To be able to learn the terminology of color through critics and discussion, to demonstrate color interaction, the mixture of color and basic properties of color in the works
7   To be able to gain the ability to apply something designed correctly by using different materials and tools
8   To be able to draw designed or organic objects easily in photo-realistic way and with the variety of different lines without making mistake in ratio-proportion and perspective

Assessment Criteria

Committee: It will be carried out by evaluating all the applied studies and projects carried out throughout the semester by the faculty members taking the course and receiving a common success score. It is reflected in the student's success score as 100%.
