Course Objective

The aims of the course are to make a research of historical, cultural, economic and technologic factors through the development of Graphic Design and be able to identify Graphic Design movements, design styles, schools and certain Graphic Designers which are shaped up with period of the industrial revolution in the late 19th century and continuing till the 1960s.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to classify modern design movements, designers and schools which are shaped up Graphic design history chronically
2   Be able to have a conceptual, intellectual and analytic point of view by the analyizing the effects of social, economic, technologic and culturel developments over the modernist graphic design.
3   Be able to analyize social and esthetic applications of graphic design and transfer these to his/her profession
4   Be able to prepare research papers and seminars related to the issues of modern graphic design history
5   Be able to realize the relationships between graphic design and other disciplines
6   Be able to comprehend the historical development of graphic design profession
