Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide information about colour; to encourage bringing in sensibility to colour; to develop the ability of expression and forming through colour.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define concepts and terms regarding colour
2   To study colour interrelations both theoretically and practical
3   To examine the physiologic effect of colour through practices
4   To explain the psychological effect through examples
5   To benefit from the power and expressive qualities of colour in his/her work

1 Introduction to colour (Aspect of seeing, colour in nature, physics of colour) Expression through verbal and visual presentation

3 12 section colour, colour scale and paint-colour Experimental practice, assesments and follow-up of works
4 Colour harmony (Warm-cold colour harmony, Mixed colour harmony, Dominant colour harmony) Verbal expression, Study of examples through visual presentation
5 Colour harmony Practice: Abstract composition study, assesments and follow-up of works
6 Colour harmony Composition study, assesments and follow-up of works
7 Colour harmony Practice: Still life study through organic objects, assesments and follow-up of works
8 Colour harmony Stilllife study, assesments and follow-up of works
9 Physiological effects of colour and its study of examples Expression through verbal and visual presentation

Developmental asssesment methods are based on supporting the student to comprehend/ understand and express this outlook of subject matters. The student is encouraged to attend classes as relevant as possible, as well as the consistent and active communication between the lecturer and the student is to be planned under the guidance of the lecturer. Initially main themes are explored in the course. Works and researchs are made in practical ways. In the assesments, students are to express their knowledge, ideas and arising problems related to their experiences of their own work

The student must
1- The work he/she undertakes in the context of the course; must be of high quality in terms of technique and artistry ,
2- Performance in the classes,
3- The number of works.
4- Works are to be harmonious with the context.
