Course Objective

To learn the definition of mood disorders, especially bipolar disorder, diagnostic criteria, clinical features, prognosis/outcome, psychosocial stress factors and treatment methods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Having knowledge about the genetic components and cognitive dysfunctions in mood disorders.
2   Having advanced knowledge about brain imaging methods used in mood disorders and identified structural and functional changes in brain.
3   Having advanced knowledge about cell pathology, neurochemical, electrophysiological and neuroendocrine processes in mood disorders.
4   Being able to obtain information by scanning literature and estimate the obtained information.
5   Being able to express knowledge using both verbal and written forms.
