Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge and skills related to the role and responsibilities of the woman in diagnosis, treatment and follow-up / control stages of women with lower urinary system problems, in the development of continence, prevention of lower urinary system problems and multidisciplinary team understanding. Also the course aims to provide the students with the ability to practice and to acquire knowledge and skills related to the field-specific comprehensive nursing approaches by using high-level mental processes (creative and critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making) during all these knowledge and skill gains.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the structure and functioning of the lower urinary system in women
2   To learn the historical development of urogynecology nursing
3   To know and use current standardized terminology related to urogynecology
4   To discuss urogynecological problems in the world and country level
5   To be able to discuss the effects of urogynecological problems on women and their families with nursing approaches
6   To be able to analyze and apply the current literature in accordance with scientific research methods in order to create innovative care strategies for the development of nursing approaches in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up stages of women who have problems in prevention of urogynecologic problems.
7   To be able to plan and conduct original researches in the field of urogynecology, which will provide healthy / patient individuals and health professionals with new information.

4 Clinical guidelines and practice standards in urogynecology nursing,
5 Frequency and risk factors of lower urinary tract complaints in women and in the world
6 Basic diagnostic tests in urogynecology, evaluation of women and current approaches based on nursing evidence
7 Conservative treatment of lower urinary tract problems and current approaches and nursing
8 Current approaches in the surgical treatment of lower urinary tract problems and nursing
9 Prevention of lower urinary tract problems Current approaches to developing healthy lifestyle behaviors
10 The effect of Urogynecologic complaints on quality of life and sexual life in women
11 The relationship between urogynecologic problems and pregnancy, delivery and postpartum
12 Complementary methods used in urogynecology, current approaches in medical practice
