Course Objective

To define and discuss contemporary art events which took place after 1960 .
In this course;Post 1960 artistic tendencies (New realism, Minimal art, Happening, Op-Art, Land, art, Performance, Video art) will be narrated/explained through the examples of artists and their works.

1   To define concepts, professional terms and literature related to comtemporary art,
2   To describe contemporary art events and various artistic approaches,
3   To examine contemporary art understandings in the periodical context of the culture in which they belong to,
4   To provide feedback about existing contemporary art knowledge for one s own works,
5   To express theoretical knowledge fluidly and with clarity in verbal and written forms.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Developmental sssesment methods are based on supporting the student to comprehend/understand and express this outlook of subject matters. The student is encouraged to attend classes as relevant as possible, as well as the consistent and active communication between the lecturer and the student is to be planned under the guidance of the lecturer. Initially main themes are explored in the course, and focusing on the relevant topics is the aim in the process of researching through homework-distribution. Every student presents their own work in the context of the program they are following, at the same time all students exchange their ideas and knowledge in the atmosphere of a seninar. Also, the student showcases his/her knowledge through homework and final exams which also count as mid-semester exam.

Assessment Criteria

The student must 1- continually attend the classes,
2- To activelly be involved in the course,
3- The research he/she undertakes in the context of the course; must be of high quality; its thematic heading is to be harmonious with the context; the context of used resources; the gramatical correctness of the written text,
4- The student shall be able to express himself both verbally and textually through his research and homework,
5- To be able to discuss when necessary, with the knowledge he gains,
6- In the final exams, the information he provides is expected to match the question asked.

Course Policies and Rules

1-The student must attend at least %80 of the lecture,
2- Comply with the pre-arranged homework/presentation/seminar and callender during the lessons,
3- To do readings on the previously determined topics,
4- To be actively involved in the discussions taking place in the class.
