Course Objective

The aim of this course is to get preservice history teacher to teach historical development of "human rights" concept and what problems are about human rights in Türkiye and in the World. Besides, its other aim is to raise future teacher awareness with regard to fundamental rights and freedoms that people endowed with.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To explain main concepts related to human rights
2   To summarize historical stages that human rights and freedoms underwent
3   To recognize chief figures, events and institutions with regard to human rights and freedoms
4   To discuss nowadays problems of human rights and their ways of solution
5   To comment on reflections of human rights and freedoms to the education

5 French Revolution and Emergence of First Generation Rights
6 Private rights and freedoms, the right to life, physical rights,security interest
7 Collective Action Freedoms and Political Rights
8 Mid-Term Exam
9 Revolutions of Nineteenth Century, Emergence and Development of Second Generation Rights
10 Importance of Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Juridical Constitution of Second Generation Rights, Economic and Social Rights
11 Labor and Social Security Rights
12 Social and Cultural Rights and International Treaties Related to development of them
13 Third Generation Rights, Development of Solidarity Rights
14 The Right of Peace, Right of Development, Environmental Right
