Course Objective

The aim of this study is to analyse the functions of terracotta figurines in Greek daily life by examining all stages of the style development of terracotta figurines, which constitute an important part of Greek culture since the Geometric period. In this way, it is aimed to analyse both Greek daily life and Greek religion and the cults with which it is related.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The arrival of the ancient Greeks to continental Greece and Western Anatolia
2   To learn terracotta figurine making techniques of the ancient Greeks from the Geometric period
3   Functions and uses of terracotta figurines
4   Learning the cults associated with terracotta figures
5   To be able to understand the changes in the types of terracotta figurines in Gemetric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods
