Course Objective

to introduce the students the topics and the discussions in the tafsir usulu works;
to show them the main references of usul al tafsir;
to introduce the development of usul al tafsir;
to expose the characteristics of usul al tafsir.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students having this course will learn the basic terms of usul al tafsir.
2   They will learn the main sources of usul al tafsir.
3   They will apprehend relation between usul al tafsir and ulum al Quran.
4   They will come to know the basic characteristics of usul al tafsir.
5   They will learn the relation of usul al tafsir with that of fiqh and hadis.
6   They see the approaches to usul al tafsir in modern times.
