Course Objective

To recognize al-Ma'ani, al-Bayan and al-Badi which basic issues of the al-Balaghah, and know its sub-disciplines.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The student knows meaning of al-Fasaha and its purpose.
2   The student recognizes meaning of al-Balaghah and its goals.
3   The student gets information about `Ilm al-Ma ani and its sub-disciplines; also knows where and how to speak.
4   The student gets information about `Ilm al-Bayan and its sub-disciplines; also knows how to transfer his idea to the others correctly.
5   The student gets information about `Ilm al-Badi and its sub-disciplines; also he knows how to beautify the word and the meaning.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Midterm and Final Exam:
In Mid-term and final exam, the students are asked questions in classical style about basic terms related with al-Ma ani, al-Bayan, al-Badi and its sub-disciplines explaining them by examples, also questioned to translate a text related with al-Balaghah and to show the literary arts in the text.

Homework:
The student prepares a composition about an art in al-Ma ani, al-Bayan, al-Badi or translate a text in al-Balaghah and examine the arts in it.

Assessment Criteria

The students will be assessed based on success in their mid-term, and final exams and assignments along with their performance during the classes throughout the semester.
