To explain the basic concepts of measurement and assessment in psychiatry and introduce students to the scales used in psychiatry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning the definition and measurement of psychopathology
2   Learning the types and features of the assessment tools used in psychiatry. Having knowledge about their uses.
3   Learning the scales used for assessing psychopathology of schizophrenia and having knowledge about their uses.
4   Learning the scales used for assessing psychopathology of bipolar disorder and having knowledge about their uses.
5   Being aware of ethical issues when assessing psychopathology.
