Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to achieve necessary understanding of the development of the local historiography in Türkiye and the world, the methodology problems and the literature on the local history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   define the importance of the local history in historiography
2   categorize the literature of the local history works
3   explain the approaches in the local historiography
4   analyze the methodology problems of the local historiography
5   reach results from examples of the oral history, family history, and institution s history in the local historiography
6   determine the developments of the local historiography from the period of Ottomans to the Republican Era
