Course Objective

The aim of this course is to deal with the historical development of the Roman State, which evolved from a community of prehistoric villages to a city republic embracing all the peoples of Italy and eventually an empire, with its political and socio-economic aspects.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
2   have the scientific literature related to the content of the course.
3   define the main concepts and facts related to the subject.
4   evaluate the legal, political and administrative structure of the Roman State.
5   analyze the socio-economic structure of the Roman State.
6   interpret the reasons for the policies followed by the Roman emperors.
7   explain the elements that create the Roman culture.
8   identify peoples, languages and forms of government derived from Roman culture.
