Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to train psychiatric nurses, who can take on the care responsibility of individuals and families with mental disorders, are informed about psychosocial interventions and some therapies in the field of psychiatry, able to question health politics in the world and our country, sensitive to ethical principles, aware of responsibilities, skilful at problem solving and critical thinking.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1) Understanding the importance of evidence-based practices and the use of evidence in mental health and psychiatric nursing
2   2) Recognizing psychosocial problems and being able to apply evidence-based interventions in risky situations
3   3) Recognizing psychosocial problems seen in physical illnesses and being able to provide appropriate nursing care
4   4) Knowing the basic components of biological treatment and psychosocial interventions applied in the mental recovery process,
5   5) Understanding the role and functions of the nurse in protecting, improving and strengthening the mental health of the individual and the family
