Course Objective

Learning parasite biochemistry, some chemical factors which are related to protozoon, helminthes and artropodae will be learn via oral presentation and discussion lectures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Define and explain biochemical parasite-host relationship
2   Define and discuss the mechanisms of carbohydrate and energy metabolism of protozoa and helmints
3   Define and discuss the mechanisms of aminoacid, protein and nucleic acid metabolisms of parasites
4   Define and explain lipid metabolism of parasites and structure of parasite membrane
5   List the signal systems that parasites use
6   Define and explain the mechanisms of antiparasitic drugs and drug resistance

10 Biochemistry of Plasmodium species
11 Invasion mechanisms in apicomplexan parasites
12 Signal transmitters in parasite
13 Helminthes and their neurotransmitters.
14 Antioxidant and apopitosis in parasite biochemistry
15 Biochemistry mechanisim related to antiparasiter drugs
