Course Objective

To understand the development process of Turkish literature, the prose in the period of Reformation studies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognize the modern Turkish prose
2   Identify the types of Tanzimat into our literature.
3   The idea in conjunction with Articles trip, to see outstanding examples of such species as the moment.
4   The story line to follow the development of novel and the theater.
5   Ideas on contemporary Turkish Nesri'nin carry out the sample text.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 An Overview of the Turkish Nesrine After Tanzimat. Reflections on newspapers and journalism connected Species (Article, Criticism, anecdotes, Chat, Interview)
2 Travel in a literature, a memoirs, and a letter.
3 Classical Case Stories (Halit Ziya, Omer Seyfettin, Refik Halit, etc.)..
4 Modern (Situation) Stories (Sait Faik, Memduh Şevket Esendal)
5 Roman translations and the first examples of Turkish novel genre.
6 Novel Types (Psychological, Historical, Exotic ...).
7 Turkish novel and its represantatives from The Republic to date
8 General repeat and evaluation
9 Studies and its representatives in Republican Turkish Theatre (Turan Oflazoğlu, Haldun Taner, Recep Bilginer).
10 Exemples of the idea writings (Nurullah Ataç, Sabahattin Eyuboğlu, Suut Kemal Yetkin etc.)
11 Exemples of Turkish story (last period) (Selim Ileri, Mustafa Kutlu, Cemil Kavukçu, Tomris Uyar vb.)
12 Thoughts on Modern Turkish Novel.
13 Postmodern Novels ((Orhan Pamuk, Ihsan Oktay Anar, Hasan Ali Toptaş, Latife Tekin etc.).
14 General Evaluation of Contemporary Turkish prose.
15 Final Exam
