Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine and evaluate the structure of social
studies, its historical development in the world and in Türkiye, social studies curriculum,
teaching concepts, values and skills in social studies, teaching methods, techniques and
materials used in social studies, teaching current and controversial issues, measurement and
evaluation approaches in social studies.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, 1. To have knowledge about the structure and historical development of social studies.
2   2. To be able to analyze the elements of social studies curriculum.
3   3. To be able to evaluate social studies teaching with different dimensions.
4   4. To have knowledge about the methods, techniques and materials used in social studies.
5   5. Getting the skills to share the researches and evaluations in oral and written form.
