Course Objective

The aim of this course is to gain knowledge and awareness about the roles and practices of counselors in the field of health and the rapidly expanding field of Health Psychology Counseling.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the bio-psycho-social model of health.
2   Discusses the interaction of mind and body in the process of improving health.
3   Evaluate how health problems affect the individual, caregivers and family members.
4   Integrate psychological and sociological perspectives to improve understanding of health and illness among disadvantaged groups.
5   Explain adaptive and maladaptive eating behaviors.
6   Evaluate erroneous health and illness beliefs.
