Course Objective

The students who take the course; to inform about the emergence of science and technology, the development of science and technology throughout history, major scientific developments that have changed human history, scientists involved in this process, the effects of scientific and technological developments on societal life following the industrial revolution, and scientific and technological inventions that have changed the course of human history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Being able to explain the emergence of science and technology in different geographies and cultures
2   Being able to explain the characteristics of scientific thought and the historical development of technology.
3   Acquiring knowledge about scientists and studies that contribute to the development of science and technology.
4   Being able to explain the relationship between science and technology from the past to the present.
5   Being able to explain the state of science and technology during the emergence of the Industrial Revolution.
6   Being able to grasp the developments in science and technology that occurred after the Industrial Revolution.
7   Explaining the impacts of technological developments on societal life in today's world

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

To review the weekly subjects together with the students after the subjects are re-outlined by the lecturer, based on the pre-course reading process done by the students, and also to encourage the students to make a short presentation on a subject they prefer during the semester (if possible).
