Course Objective

To examine the source of Islamic legal methodology from authentic sources, and study
Fukaha legal methodology.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have knowledge regarding major classical sources of Hanafi legal methodology
2   Have the ability of comparison among classical Hanafi legal texts
3   Reach a certain level to do comment on Hanafi legal methodology
4   Learn the Hanafi legal methodology its own sources
5   Have a general view on classical period legal methodology of both Hanafi and Mutakallimin traditions

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Grading percentages are approximate. Active Participation to the class discussions and
presentation are important as the Mid-Term and Final exams. Failing one of them cause
to fail of the class.

Assessment Criteria

The success of a student is considered based on Mid-term, Final, Active Class
participation, Presentation and Term Paper.

This is a discussion based course. To do so, each student should come class meetings
well prepared, i.e. read before class meetings all reading assignments carefully. At
least one presentation is required. Attendance is required.
