Course Objective

The aim of this course is to offer a theoretical basis in audiovisual translation research.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   learn about the main theoretical and practical issues in the field of audiovisual translation.
2   explore various approaches to audiovisual translation such as cultural, cognitive and descriptive.
3   develop an in-depth understanding of the shaping dynamics of the audiovisual translation market.
4   learn about in addition to the most common audiovisual translation modes such as subtitling, dubbing and voiceover the concept of media accessibility in relation to audio description and subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing.
