Course Objective

The aim of the course is to analyze the economic, political, and social history of Turkish political life from the 19th century onwards, starting with the Ottoman Empire, through various theoretical approaches. Analyzing the 19th-century economic, political, legal, and social history of
the Ottoman Empire through theoretical approaches. Additionally, examining the different
theoretical perspectives on the political, economic, social, and legal structure of Turkish
political life during the Single-Party era, Democratic Party era, 1960-1970, 1970-1980, and
post-1980 period.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1.Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental events and factual aspects of Turkish political life from the 19th century of the Ottoman Empire.
2   2. Develop the capability to comprehend the historical period in its political, economic, social, and legal dimensions through a multidimensional and relational approach.
3   3. Learn to scientifically articulate all dimensions of Turkish political life using various theoretical approaches and concepts.
4   4. Contribute to the enhancement of analytical thinking, relational approaches, and critical questioning skills.
