Course Objective

This is an introductory course to business that aims to enable learners to gain a better understanding of the business environment, operations of the business and the functions of business.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate understanding of the structure and dynamics of business environments; how businesses seek to track and analyze their environments.
2   Be aware of the primary issues in business ethics, social responsibility and sustainable development goals
3   Learn how the business plan is a foundational tool for developing and managing a successful business.
4   Demonstrate an understanding of the functions of business.
5   To be able to improve communication skills.

Assessment Criteria

1. Learners will describe key levels and components of environment in which businesses operate
2. Learners will explain general frameworks that guide decision makers in business ethics, corporate responsibility, and sustainability.
3. Learners will develop different types of business plans where business functions are elaborated and integrated
4. Learners will describe terms and concepts related to the basic functions of business

Mid-Term Exam: It will consist of questions to assess whether the basic concepts and terminology of the business have been learned or not.

Assignment: Students must submit four assignments regarding the functions of business throughout the semester.

Final Exam: Final exam will be composed of the basic concepts and terminology of the business.
