Course Objective

The main purpose of this course is to focus on the conceptual and theoretical framework of enlargement. Membership conditionality and the enlargement process will be analysed through various theories. Europeanization concept, the impact of past enlargements and the economic and cultural and identity dimensions of the enlargement process will also be covered.

1   Being able to explain EU enlargement policy in its historical process
2   Being able to analyze the effect of enlargement over institutional process of the EU.
3   Being able to analyze the relationship between enlargement and Europeanization

Assessment Criteria

1. Explain enlargement waves and policy of the EU.
2. Relate enlargement to other areas of EU integration
3. Develop criticism and arguments about the current situation and the future, based on acquired knowledge on EU enlargement
4. Derse ilişkin veri bulma, kullanma ve analiz etme.
