Course Objective

Cartography as a geography discipline and mapping as a method have various philosophical, theoretical and creative equivalents today. At the same time, cartography and mapping are one of the important resources that contemporary photography strategies benefit from. The aim of the course is to recognize the main theoretical studies on this subject and to recognize and discuss artists' approaches to the subject since the avant-garde period. It is aimed to provide them with a critical perspective within the framework of map methods carried out in psychogeographical, sensory, cognitive and online environments, and to enable them to realize their photo-based subjective designs.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students who take this lesson 1. Will have knowledge of mapping methods
2   Will identify historical, theoretical, cultural origins of mapping and cartography
3   Will have knowledge about fundametal theoritical Works
4   Will Develop mapping methods and creative possibilities
5   Will be able to discuss and evaluate artist and their Works in contemporary art and photography context
6   Will design and evaluate related art projects
