Course Objective

The purpose of this course is improving the knowledge on the networking protocols currently in use, the basics of the socket programming using TCP and UDP sockets and practice on the specific examples covered in security, time, file transfer, remote login and remote procedure call.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the basics of socket programming using TCP and UDP Sockets.
2   To understand how servers and clients communicate over sockets.
3   To understand simple network management protocols & practical issues.
4   To have capability of analysing requirements and constraints of the designing and implementing networked environments.
5   To design and implement networking programs that accommodates specified requirements and constraints.
