Course Objective

Construction works which are classified in the high level risk works, have some specific principles and an application regulation for the surveillance of occupational health and safety. The objective of this course is to provide knowledge about the legal, technical and administrative principles based on the regulations in Türkiye and European Union by using some site examples, particularly in the risk groups of construction works.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define the responsibilities about the occupational health and security in construction works
2   To evaluate jointly the construction site management and occupational health and security applications
3   To understand and distinguish the regulations in Türkiye and European Union.
4   To perform the documentation about the occupational health and security in construction works.
5   To define the minimum requirements in construction sites for occupational health and safety.

1 General assessment of occupational health and safety (OHS) in construction works in Türkiye by using basic statistics
2 Introduction and definitions
3 The risk groups in construction works
4 The general comparison of the regulations in Türkiye and European Union about OHS in construction works
5 The responsibilities of the employers about OHS in construction works
6 The assignments and responsibilities of health and safety coordinators in construction works
7 The documentation about OHS in construction works, designation of assignment topics
8 The integration of OHS works with construction site management and organization
9 Ensuring the specific minimum requirements for the covered areas in construction sites
10 Ensuring the specific minimum requirements for the open fields in construction sites
11 OHS certification applications in construction works
12 OHS and the other reassurance systems in construction works
13 Student presentations
