Course Objective

In this course, biotechnological importances of organisms within marine ecosystems will be explained with examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, the students will be able to give examples to the methods used in marine biotechnology
2   know the commercial marine organisms in marine ecosystems
3   distinguish marine organisms which have high mineral and vitamin contents
4   explain the structures of medicinally important polysaccharides
5   interpret the experimental results related to purification, isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites and antioxidants
6   follow the current researches on marine biotechnology
