Course Objective

This course aims at defining the concepts of historical environment and historical environment conservation, getting to comprehend protected values and causes of deterioration of historical environment, analysing and documenting in historical environment on the scale of building and pattern and teaching the techniques of building survey (rölöve), restitution and restoration.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The students will be able to define the concepts of historical environment and historical environment conservation,
2   will be able to define protected values and causes of deterioration of historical environment,
3   will be able to analyse and document in historical environment on the scale of building and pattern,
4   will be able to use the techniques of building survey (rölöve), restitution and restoration,
5   will be able to relate practice to theory in the area of conservation.

Assessment Criteria

Defining the concepts of historical environment, historical environment conservation, protected values and causes of deterioration of historical environment will be measured by Midterm Examination.
Analysing in historical environment on the scale of building and pattern will be measured by Homework.
Documenting and using the techniques of building survey (rölöve), restitution and restoration and relating practice to theory in the area of conservation will be measured by Final Examination.
