Course Objective |
The course aims to provide an introduction to cultural tourism and its relations with heritage, since cultural tourism as a growth market segment offers new opportunities for the economic revival of historical cities, but at the same time, threatens the cultural resources. The main discussions cover the tangible and intangible resources of heritage, heritage industry, cultural tourism, creative industry, authenticity, tourismification, dynamics of a tourism erosion process and cultural policy. This course examines the relations between heritage conservation and tourism development and intends to stimulate the debate on urban planning concepts and strategies. |
