Course Objective

The course overviews the scientific and technical knowledge on advanced solid waste technologies in addition to the conventional waste disposal techniques. Lectures contains the advances in the source separation and collection of the waste, advanced composting processes, gasification and pyrolysis of the waste, new drying and incineration systems.

1   To have knowledge on solid waste types, properties and components
2   To have knowledge on unit operations of solid waste
3   To have knowledge on the technology selection according to the need, waste properties, and system costs
4   To have knowledge on modified and/or advanced solid waste technologies
5   To have knowledge for designing an novel solid waste processing system according to the legal aspects
