GEOPHYSICAL ENGINEERING

Course Objective

The main subject of this course covers aspects of applied geophysics and applied geosciences. Its idea is a comprehensive and concise systematic presentation of the physical properties of rocks. The course will present fundemental results of experimental investigations and some main directions of a theoretical basis. The interpretation of geophysical data in exploration geophysics, well logging, engineering, mining and environmental geophysics needs the knowledge of the rock properties and their correlation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The ability to determine the physical properties of rocks,
2   The ability to understand the importance of the physical properties of rocks,
3   The ability to relate the physical properties of rocks with the measured data,
4   The ability to measure the physical properties of rocks,
5   The ability to interpret the physical properties of rocks according to the conditions of formation,
