Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Introduction to hydrologic processes: their general properties and the need for modeling, Review of model types (approaches, assumptions, methodologies, areas of use), basic equations
2 Infiltration and groundwater models: Hydrogeologic data and information needs, Basic equations using for the flow in unsaturated zone
3 Infiltration models (Horton, Philip, and Green-Ampt models), Modeling of the flow in the saturated zone
4 Surface flow models: Determination of excess rainfall and direct flow
5 Areal distribution of surface flow, Snow melt models
6 Rainfall-runoff models: Classification of models, Lineer systems
7 Unit hydrograph model, rational method model, parametric models
8 Flow routing models: Lumped models (Muskingum, SCS, and impuls response function models), routing of hydrograph (in channel and in reservoir)
9 Distrubuted models (kinematic wave, diffusion, Muskingum-Cunge, and dynamic wave models)
10 Statistical models
11 Parameter estimation and predictive uncertainty
12 Model calibration and verification, model choice
