Course Objective

To be able to define and apply hydrogeochemical techniques upon identifications and solutions of hydrogeological problems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define basic hydrogeochemical concepts.
2   To be able to explain the quality variation on waters.
3   To be able to apply water chemistry techniques about ground water researches.
4   To be able to apply water chemistry techniques about geothermal researches.
5   To be able to use computer codes upon water chemistry.

1 Universe and the Earth.
2 Physical properties of waters.
3 Radioactivity and chemical properties of ground waters.
4 The usability of waters.
5 Classification of waters.
6 Some basic chemical and hydrogeochemical concepts.
7 Midterm exam
8 Carbonate solubility of natural waters.
9 Geochemical interpretation of the water chemistry analyses.
10 The estimation of he mineral saturations.
11 The calculations of the mixing ratios of waters.
12 Hydrogeochemical mappings.
13 Theoretical studies of the chemical evolution of ground waters.
14 The presentation of the prepared projects.
