Course Objective

to understand and discuss mechanism and evolution of depressions formed under the control of continental extensional tectonics

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to be able know graben structures formed under the control of continental extensional tectonics
2   to be able to decribe graben tectonics
3   to be able to show the relationships between graben-boundary faults and graben infill
4   to be able to analyse tectonic evolution of grabens
5   to be able to evaulate economic potential of the graben infills

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

It is conveyed information of principles of extensional tectonics during face to face learning.
The subjects which have been given in face to face learning have been applied to during
each application. A homework and a field work has been given in order to describe and
interprete the graben-bounding faults and graben infills.

Assessment Criteria

principles of graben tectonics given in the face to face learning will be evaluated in an
intermediate exam. In order to understand the graben-bounding faults, a homework will be given. a presentation will given in order to
establish graben infills..
